We are seeking a results-driven, customer-focused Strategic Account Manager to lead business development efforts, expand our customer base, and drive the adoption of IMSE technology.
Job Overview:
As a Strategic Account Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, managing key customer relationships, and leading customer projects from initial engagement to commercial success. This role is open to both experienced sales professionals looking to expand into a technical sales role and engineers or project managers interested in transitioning into sales. We provide training and mentorship to ensure success, whether you come from a commercial or technical background.
This position requires a strong mix of technical understanding, business acumen, and relationship-building skills. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring they understand the value of IMSE technology and guiding them through the development and implementation process.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales Growth
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, targeting OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
Develop and execute sales strategies to expand IMSE technology adoption across multiple industries, including automotive, consumer electronics, and smart surfaces.
Proactively hunt for new customers, establish strong relationships, and convert leads into long-term partnerships.
Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, driving revenue growth and market penetration.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
Act as the primary commercial and technical liaison for customers, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and business objectives.
Foster long-term relationships with key accounts, driving customer satisfaction and repeat business.
Lead negotiations, prepare proposals, and close deals to meet sales targets.
Represent TactoTek at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings to promote IMSE solutions.
Project Leadership & Customer Success
Serve as the project lead for customer engagements, coordinating internal and external resources to ensure seamless execution.
Guide customers through the IMSE development process, from initial concept to mass production, ensuring manufacturability and scalability.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Provide technical sales support, including product demonstrations, presentations, and feasibility discussions.
Market & Industry Expertise
Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities to drive strategic sales initiatives.
Collaborate with internal teams (technology and product development, field application engineering, marketing) to align customer needs with product development and commercialization efforts.
Provide feedback to the R&D based on customer interactions and market insights.
We expect you to have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field. (Master’s degree is a plus but not required).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, account management, or engineering roles with exposure to cross-functional project management, preferably in automotive or related industries.
Sales professionals should have a proven track record of business development, customer engagement, and revenue growth.
Engineers or project managers should have a strong understanding of product development, manufacturing processes, and electronic integration, with a desire to transition into a sales role.
Willingness to grow into a business development leader, taking ownership of new customer acquisition and strategic market expansion.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong ability to lead customer projects, manage cross-functional teams, and drive results.
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for sales and technology.
Travel & Training
Frequent local travel within Metro Detroit and throughout the Continental US to engage with customers and attend industry events / trade shows.
Occasional travel to TactoTek headquarters in Oulu, Finland, for training and strategic meetings.
